Other Projects Completed
Simon's Construction company has just completed a major Air-conditioning System Upgrade,
with building additions to the Goonellabah Telephone Exchange, one of the
busiest Telstra assets in the northern region of NSW.
The project involved building a 2 storey addition, approximately 10 metres high with a floor area of 281 M2 to the existing building. Cranes were used in the installation of the 3 new air handling units to the upper floor. As the building works progressed the Mechanical Plant was commissioned ensuring that there was no system loss to the operational exchange.
This
project was completed on time and within budget to the satisfaction of all
stakeholders. During the works staff and contractors were always mindful of
the needs of the building occupants, ensuring the comfort of the staff and
patrons of the Goonellabah Medical Centre, situated at the boundary of the
property, was not affected by our works and that Telstra's customers did not
have any outages due to our building operations. Back to top

in Lismore's main street.
The project involved the demolition of a concrete patio and awning that was added to this distinctive building about 30 - 40 years ago and rebuilding a sandstone staircase to it's original appearance. Work was done to the Heritage Council's strict requirements and has markedly improved the streetscape. Back to top

Simon's
Construction company completed the Gungahlin Telephone Exchange, Telstra's
highest priority project in Australia at the time of construction in March
2004.
Telstra Director, Ziggy Szwitowski turned the first sod on the site and Centre Constructions worked tirelessly until the ACT Chief Minister, John Stanhope opened the building in May 2004.
The fast-tracked project was constructed in what may be record time and was on a "Greenfield" site with services such as roads, sewerage, electricity and cable roll out happening simultaneously with the construction of the new building.
Our company received accolades from Local Government, Telstra Management and Transfield Services for the quality, speedy construction and cooperative approach from Orange Constructions in meeting Telstra's need. Back to top
Simon's Construction company worked with Bovis to complete a major refurbishment of the Canberra
Centre, the premier shopping centre in the heart of Canberra.
The project involved night work over several months to ensure operations were not disrupted during retail hours. The project manager described the work as one of the most logistically and technically difficult projects undertaken in the region for some time, with considerable challenges in relation to all aspects of the construction, particularly such issues as safety, work staging requirements, nightshift works, tight timeframes and cost constraints.
